Never from a box

I am morally oppossed to brownies from a box. Just not my thing. I can remember growing up chanting on a Sunday evening "Brownies, Brownies, Brownies" until my mom caved and whipped up a batch. Never once did a batch come from a box, so maybe that's why I have never made a batch from a box successfully. I just don't get how you can only add an egg and oil, when you can a few more ingredients and have from scratch brownies. Maybe this goes along with how my mom never made pancakes from a mix, so I've never made pancakes with bisquick before either... I credit her for my need to make things from scratch.
So tonight I whipped up a batch of Deb's brownies for mutual tomorrow and was reminded how much I love brownies and how easy they are to make.  I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I shared, probably because the recipe came from her mom, who got it from a ward cookbook or something.

Mom's Brownies
1 cup softened butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla

Whip butter, sugar, eggs together. Add cocoa and vanilla until combined. Mix baking powder, salt, flour until smooth.
Spread into a 9x11 floured pan.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degree oven.
